Pergerakan Pengakap diperkenalkan oleh Lord Baden Powell pada tahun 1907. Beliau merupakan seorang askar Inggeris yang berpangkat leftenan jeneral. Beliau dikenali di seluruh dunia dengan nama singkatan BP. Pada mulanya, BP telah membawa 12 orang kanak-kanak lelaki ke Pulau Brownsea, England untuk mengadakan satu perkhemahan. Selepas itu beliau telah mengadakan beberapa perkhemahan lain di luar kota London. BP kemudian telah menulis buku Scouting for boys. Buku ini adalah hasil pengalaman beliau semasa bertugas dalam angkatan tentera dan semasa menganjurkan perkhemahan Pengakap. Kemudian buku ini telah dijadikan panduan bagi mempelajari dan melatih ahli Pengakap di seluruh dunia. Seterusnya, BP telah berhenti daripada menjadi tentera dan menumpukan sepenuh perhatian kepada perkembangan Pergerakan Pengakap. Pada tahun 1912, beliau telah menjelajah ke seluruh dunia dan menemui Pengakap dari berbagai-bagai negara. Inilah titik permulaan persaudaraan Pengakap sedunia. Pada tahun 1920, Pengakap dari seluruh dunia telah berkumpul di London untuk menghadiri Jambori Dunia Pertama. Pada malam akhir jambori itu, BP telah diisytihar sebagai 'Pengakap Agung Dunia'. Pada awalnya, Pergerakan Pengakap dianggotai oleh kanak-kanak yang berusia lebih daripada 13 tahun. Pada tahun 1913, satu unit yang khusus bagi kanak-kanak telah ditubuhkan. Unit ini dikenali sebagai Unit Anak Serigala. Kemudian, nama ini ditukarkan kepada Unit Pengakap Kanak-kanak. Pergerakan Pengakap diperkenalkan di negara kita pada tahun 1910. Kumpulan pertama Pengakap, yang mengandungi 30 orang ahli, telah ditubuhkan di Singapura oleh F.C. Sands. Selepas itu, Pergerakan Pengakap ditubuhkan ke seluruh Malaysia. Persekutuan Pengakap Singapura telah keluar daripada menjadi ahli Persekutuan Pengakap Malaysia pada Ogos 1965, setelah Singapura berpisah daripada Malaysia.

Undang - Undang Pengakap (Bahagian 2)




  • KIND (BERTIMBANG RASA & BERPERI KEMANUASIAAN)
A Scout understands there is strength in being gentle. He treats others as he wants to be treated. He does not hurt or kill harmless things without reason.


  • OBEDIENT (MENURUT KATA & PERINTAH)
A Scout follows the rules of his family, school, and troop. He obeys the laws of his community and country. If he thinks these rules and laws are unfair, he tries to have them changed in an orderly manner rather than disobey them.


  • CHEERFUL (SENTIASA GEMBIRA, TERSENYUM & SENANG HATI)
A Scout looks for the bright side of things. He cheerfully does tasks that come his way. He tries to make others happy.


  • THRIFTY (BIJAK & BERHEMAH)
A Scout works to pay his way and to help others. He saves for unforeseen needs. He protects and conserves natural resources. He carefully uses time and property.


  • BRAVE (BERANI)
A Scout can face danger even if he is afraid. He has the courage to stand for what he thinks is right even if others laugh at or threaten him.


  • CLEAN (KEBERSIHAN FIZIKAL & MENTAL)
A Scout keeps his body and mind fit and clean. He goes around with those who believe in living by these same ideals. He helps keep his home and community clean.


  • REVERENT (TAAT JEPADA TUHAN)
A Scout is reverent toward God. He is faithful in his religious duties. He respects the beliefs of others.




PASS THE WORD
Focus on what you do well, instead of targeting your weaknesses. 'People in a slump concentrate on things they're not good at to try to improve but you need to focus on your strengths to regain your lost confidence.

Undang - Undang Pengakap (Bahagian 1)




  • TRUSTWORTHY (DIPERCAYAI,BERCAKAP BENAR,TIDAK MENIPU)
A Scout tells the truth. He keeps his promises. Honesty is part of his code of conduct. People can depend on him.


  • LOYAL (TAAT & PATUH)
A Scout is true to his family, Scout leaders, friends, school, and nation.


  • HELPFUL (MELAKUKAN KEBAJIKAN ATAU PERBUATAN YANG BERGUNA)
A Scout is concerned about other people. He does things willingly for others without pay or reward.


  • FRIENDLY (BERSAUDARA)
A Scout is a friend to all. He is a brother to other Scouts. He seeks to understand others. He respects those with ideas and customs other than his own.


  • COURTEOUS (BERBUDI PEKERTI BAIK)
A Scout is polite to everyone regardless of age or position. He knows good manners make it easier for people to get along together.




PASS THE WORD

Never try to do everything by yourself. Surround yourself with positive people who will encourage you. The quality of areas of your life depends on your relationships, so spend time with passionate teachers, coaches, trainers and friends to revive your fortunes.

Simpul Tindih Kasih - Bowline

Simpul tindih kasih digunakan untuk membuat tanjul yang tidak boleh terjerut. Simpul tindih kasih digunakan dalam kerja-kerja menyelamat dan mengikat leher haiwan. Simpul ini juga boleh diikat pada pinggang kamu sendiri semasa menyelamat.

Simpul Manuk - Clove Hitch




Sesuai digunakan bagi:


  • Mengikat tali pada batang
  • Mengikat tali sampan atau kapal semasa berlabuh
  • Mengikat khemah pada tiang kayu
Biasanya, simpul manuk digunakan sebagai permulaan untuk mengikat pada kayu atau sebagainya.
